No. 389 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the death of Robert Van Bibber of Houston on February 1, 2013, at the age of 88; and WHEREAS, Born in Houston on December 14, 1924, to Santiago and Elvira Van Bibber, Robert Van Bibber served his country during World War II as a Seabee in the United States Navy; after the war, he embarked on a long career with Southern Pacific Railroad; and WHEREAS, A loving family man, Mr. Van Bibber shared many happy years with his wife, Gloria Maria Van Bibber; the couple were blessed with four beloved daughters, Diana, Debra, Doris, and Donna, and their family later grew to include five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Known for his kindness and compassion, Robert Van Bibber was always willing to help anyone in need, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Van Bibber and extend sincere condolences to his family: to his daughters, Diana Blackshear and her husband, Roland, Debra Van Bibber, Doris Van Bibber, and Donna Van Bibber; to his grandchildren, Joy Dortch and her husband, Micah, Julie Sohm and her husband, Yori, Joshua Adam Vercher, Christopher Robert Sheffield, and Sierra Ellis; to his great-grandchildren, Zayden Sohm, Darrin Sohm, Joshua Anthony Vercher, Caedo Sheffield, and Rhys Sheffield; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert Van Bibber.
