No. 472 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Justin Edward Macmanus of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 142 in Harlingen has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Macmanus earned the requisite 21 merit badges, and for his Eagle Scout project, he constructed three wooden shelves for a storage room at St. Anthony Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, The son of Brian and Nancy Macmanus, this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting offers; his numerous camping excursions include Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch and Camp Rancho Cima, and he has served his troop as patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and camp staffer; and WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, Mr. Macmanus is a sophomore at Harlingen High School, where he is vice president of his class, ranks second academically, and competes for the varsity tennis team; he is president of his local 4-H club and is active with his church's youth group and as an altar server; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Macmanus's dedication to excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Justin Edward Macmanus on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Macmanus as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
