 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Young Men's Business League of Austin is
 celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2013, and this significant
 milestone provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the myriad
 contributions of this worthwhile organization; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1913, the Young Men's Business League
 provides area youth with opportunities to develop their
 professional and personal skills and to gain the experience
 necessary to succeed in school and in life; and
 WHEREAS, Since 1928, the YMBL has operated Austin Sunshine
 Camps and raised funds to support this valuable endeavor; the free,
 weeklong camps offer memorable summer experiences and workshops for
 low-income children from Central Texas; more than 800 boys and
 girls attend each year, and a total of over 46,000 young people have
 participated to date; and
 WHEREAS, The YMBL also sponsors enrichment opportunities
 during the school year through the Sunrise Challenge and Sunrise
 Leadership Programs; these endeavors are focused on assisting
 middle school and high school students, helping them navigate the
 emotionally difficult years of adolescence while learning study
 skills and planning for college; since 2001, every participant in
 the leadership program has earned a high school diploma; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to its youth initiatives, the
 organization holds numerous events, including the Austin Under 40
 Awards, an annual golf classic, and leadership seminars, to
 encourage local businessmen to become active in their community;
 and
 WHEREAS, For the past century, the Young Men's Business
 League has helped youth in the Austin area to lay a strong
 foundation for the future, and the organization is indeed deserving
 of commendation for its positive work; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the centennial of the Young Men's
 Business League of Austin and extend to the organization's members
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the league as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
