 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, For 80 years, families have come together to
 celebrate their faith at St. Luke "Community" United Methodist
 Church in Dallas; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1933, St. Luke is now one of the
 largest predominantly African American churches in United
 Methodism, with some 5,000 members; parishioners of the church
 support a wide range of ministries, which offer opportunities for
 spiritual growth, fellowship, and community outreach; and
 WHEREAS, The church is served by a dedicated staff and ably
 led by the Reverend Dr. Henry L. Masters, Sr., who assumed the
 office of senior pastor in July 2012; and
 WHEREAS, St. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church has
 long been a source of inspiration and guidance to those who worship
 there, and its continued existence is a tribute to the unwavering
 commitment of its members, both past and present; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor St. Luke "Community" United Methodist
 Church on the 80th anniversary of its founding and extend to all
 those associated with the church sincere best wishes for many more
 years of shared prayer and fellowship; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
