 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, John Brinson made innumerable contributions to the
 Paducah Independent School District during 45 years of service, and
 he earned the respect and admiration of countless people over the
 course of his tenure; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Arkansas, Mr. Brinson played football at
 Southern Arkansas University before serving in the United States
 Air Force during the Korean War; he subsequently continued his
 education at Louisiana State University and earned his degree in
 1957; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Brinson moved to Texas in 1960 to teach algebra
 at Paducah High School, and he was promoted to principal four years
 later; he continued to teach algebra as needed, and he also coached
 junior varsity girls basketball; in 1978, he was appointed
 superintendent of the district, and in this position, he
 successfully advocated for the passage of a bond to build a new
 campus; he initially retired in 1997, but returned to Paducah
 schools as interim superintendent from 2001 to 2009; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator has further
 distinguished himself as an avid fan of PHS track, personally
 cheering on numerous events through the years, and he has attended
 every state basketball tournament since 1987, when Paducah first
 won the championship; for his many contributions, a track and field
 facility was named in his honor, and he was presented with the first
 annual Distinguished Alumni Award at Paducah's all-school reunion
 in 2012; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Brinson has enjoyed the
 love and support of his wife of 50 years, Renae, as well as their
 daughters, Polly and Angie, who followed in their father's
 footsteps to become educators; his family also includes two
 treasured grandchildren, Jaicie and Britt; and
 WHEREAS, With his leadership and enthusiasm, Mr. Brinson has
 demonstrated an exceptional commitment to Paducah ISD, and his
 accomplishments have long benefited area schoolchildren and the
 entire community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor John Brinson for his decades of service in
 behalf of the Paducah Independent School District and commend him
 for his outstanding dedication; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Brinson as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
