H.R. No. 880
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of Preston West Republican Women are
visiting the State Capitol on April 18, 2013, and this occasion
provides a fitting opportunity to acknowledge this noteworthy
organization on the 60th year of its founding; and
WHEREAS, PWRW was established in 1953 to represent the
interests of Republican women in what were the northernmost
developments of Dallas at the time and is now one of the most active
affiliated clubs of the Dallas County Council of Republican Women;
members from throughout Dallas and its neighboring communities work
to elect Republican candidates, encourage Republican women to run
for office, develop educational programs, and promote
participation in the democratic process; and
WHEREAS, To support these important goals, the organization
sponsors a number of fund-raising and grassroots initiatives in
behalf of the local, statewide, and national Republican Party; it
additionally strives to keep its membership informed by hosting
speaking engagements with professional and political leaders and by
providing opportunities for members to get to know Republican
candidates; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to the dedicated efforts of PWRW's
membership, the group has been a frequent winner of achievement
awards from the National and Texas Federations of Republican Women;
and
WHEREAS, Public dialogue on important policy issues is made
richer by the active participation of groups like Preston West
Republican Women, and these outstanding Texans may indeed reflect
with pride on their rich history of civic engagement; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby honor the members of Preston West Republican
Women on their visit to the Capitol for Dallas County Council of
Republican Women Legislative Day and congratulate the organization
on its 60th anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
