 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce are
 visiting the State Capitol on March 19, 2013, and this occasion
 provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to this outstanding
 organization and the city it serves; and
 WHEREAS, The Burleson Chamber traces its history to 1965,
 when 75 members of the Lions Club came together to discuss economic
 and industrial development and realized the need for a permanent
 organization; the chamber was officially founded on April 18 of the
 following year; and
 WHEREAS, In the years since, the Burleson Chamber has played
 a leading role in the life of the city, sponsoring ongoing events
 and programs to benefit local businesses, as well as supporting
 charity fund-raisers and other community initiatives to make
 Burleson an even better place to live, work, and play; and
 WHEREAS, One of the fastest growing cities in the Dallas/Fort
 Worth Metroplex, Burleson boasts a population of 38,000, with
 290,000 people living within a 10-mile radius; nearly 1,500 acres
 are available for economic expansion within the city limits, and
 the soon-to-be-completed Chisholm Trail Parkway and the redesign of
 Wilshire Boulevard will further enhance the city's transportation
 infrastructure; and
 WHEREAS, The Burleson Independent School District includes 3
 high schools, 2 middle schools, and 10 elementary schools, many of
 which have been rated as Recognized or Exemplary by the Texas
 Education Agency, and Burleson is also home to one of the leading
 private colleges in the state, Texas Wesleyan University, as well
 as Hill College, a dynamic community college; and
 WHEREAS, The two retail complexes at the north and south ends
 of the town make a comprehensive selection of goods and services
 available to shoppers, and Burleson's historic Old Town district
 offers residents and visitors alike opportunities for
 entertainment and dining in handsomely restored buildings that
 evoke the city's past; and
 WHEREAS, Members of the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce
 have contributed greatly to the quality of life across their
 region, and they are indeed worthy of special recognition for their
 dedication to their hometown; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the members of the Burleson Area Chamber
 of Commerce on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol and
 extend to them sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
 stay in Austin.
