 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to transportation of certain students entitled to a public
 education grant.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter G, Chapter 29, Education Code, is
 amended by adding Section 29.2021 to read as follows:
 Sec. 29.2021.  TRANSPORTATION. (a)  The school district in
 which a student resides shall:
 (1)  provide to each student attending another school
 in the district under this subchapter transportation free of charge
 to and from the school the student attends; and
 (2)  provide to each student attending a school in a
 contiguous district under this subchapter transportation free of
 charge to and from a site on which the contiguous district and the
 district in which the student resides mutually agree.
 (b)  A school district that provides transportation services
 for students under Subsection (a)(1) is entitled to reimbursement
 based on the number of actual miles traveled times the per mile rate
 authorized by Section 42.155(f).
 (c)  A school district in which a student resides that
 provides transportation to and from a site in accordance with
 Subsection (a)(2) is entitled to reimbursement based on the number
 of actual miles traveled times the per mile rate authorized by
 Section 42.155(f).
 (d)  A school district contiguous to the district in which a
 student resides shall provide to each student that attends a school
 in the contiguous district transportation free of charge to and
 from the site described in Subsection (a)(2).
 SECTION 2.  Subsection (f), Section 29.203, Education Code,
 is repealed.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
