                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 25, 2013      TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair, Senate Committee on Government Organization      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1134 by Ellis (Relating to the duties of the Department of Information Resources regarding cybersecurity.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would direct the Department of Information Resources (DIR) to develop strategies and a framework for the securing of cyberinfrastructure by state agencies and cybersecurity risk assessment and mitigation planning. DIR would be required to assist state agencies, upon request, regarding the strategies and framework developed. DIR would be required to provide training to state agencies and promote public awareness on cybersecurity issues. DIR anticipates that any additional costs associated with bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
