In cases involving sexual assault, the victim, the guardian of a victim, or a close relative of a deceased victim would be entitled to the right to: request information regarding evidence and the status of the analysis of evidence; notification of when evidence is being analyzed, the results, and when the DNA profile of a suspect is provided to a state or federal DNA database; and AIDS and HIV counseling and testing as well as a forensic medical examination. The bill would also provide for the notification of the victim of the rights described by the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
