                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2013      TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1226 by Zaffirini (Relating to the establishment of an employment-first policy and task force that promote opportunities for individuals with disabilities to earn a living wage with competitive employment.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 117 of the Human Resources Code by requiring that the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) establish an employment-first policy and task force to promote opportunities for individuals with disabilities to earn a living wage with competitive employment. DARS does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact as a result of complying with the provisions of the bill. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.  Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
