The bill would allow the commissioners court of a county with a population of less than 100,000 to designate the office of a sheriff or chief of police to serve as a county registration location for sex offenders. The bill would also require a person to register, verify registration, and perform change of address requirements only with respect to the centralized registration authority for the county. The Department of Public Safety reported that no fiscal impact to the state is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
