                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 2, 2013      TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Chair, Senate Committee on Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1474 by Duncan (Relating to the adoption of major curriculum initiatives by a school district.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require school districts to include teacher input, provide opportunities for employees to express opinions, and meet with the board of trustees prior to the adoption of any major curriculum initiative, including curriculum management systems. The meeting with the board of trustees would include the costs for the proposed major curriculum initiative, alternatives considered, and would provide opportunities for the public and district employees to comment. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. There would be some administrative costs for school districts considering the adoption of a major curriculum or curriculum management system. These costs would be voluntary.
