A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the automatic recurring payment of State Bar of Texas
membership and additional fees.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 81.054, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (m) to read as follows:
(m) The state bar by rule shall adopt a system under which a
member may schedule payment of membership fees and additional fees
on an automatic and recurring basis. The state bar shall notify the
member of an increase in fees not later than the 30th day before the
date the payment is scheduled to occur.
SECTION 2. As soon as possible after the effective date of
this Act, the State Bar of Texas shall adopt rules providing for the
system required by Section 81.054(m), Government Code, as added by
this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
