This bill would amend the Government Code to authorize the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to enter into a long-term lease of a portion of federal property located in Fort Bliss for the use and benefit of this state. The bill would stipulate the lease may be for a period or term until the real property is donated to DPS. It is assumed the costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
