A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to increasing funding for the basic allotment under the
Foundation School Program.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 42.2526 to read as follows:
Sec. 42.2526. FUNDING FOR BASIC ALLOTMENT FROM GENERAL
REVENUE. (a) The amount by which the comptroller reduces the
amount transferred to the economic stabilization fund to prevent
the amount in the fund from exceeding the limit in effect for that
biennium under Section 49-g(g), Article III, Texas Constitution,
shall be transferred by the comptroller to the Foundation School
Program for the purpose of funding the basic allotment. The
transfer shall be made not later than the 90th day of each fiscal
year.
(b) The amount described by Subsection (a) is in addition to
other amounts appropriated by the legislature for the purpose of
funding the basic allotment.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
