                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            February 12, 2013      TO: Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB183 by Carona (Relating to certain inquiries made by the Texas Department of Insurance to insurers.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to certain inquiries made by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) to insurers. The bill would require TDI to provide a 10-day extension to respond to the inquiry to any person requesting an extenstion in writing within the allowable time frame.  The bill would further require TDI to maintain a record of all inquiries made by the department. Based on analysis by TDI, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
