The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit a public or private institution of higher education from adopting or enforcing any rule, regulation or other provision, or taking other certain actions prohibiting individuals with a valid concealed handgun license, including students enrolled at the institution, from storing a legal firearm or ammunition in their locked vehicle while parked on campus. It is assumed the costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
