                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 23, 2013      TO: Honorable Tryon D. Lewis, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB250 by West (Relating to the requirements of using certain technology to conduct certain mental health hearings or proceedings.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend sections of the Health and Safety Code by adding a new subsection requiring both the proposed patient and their attorney be in the same location when conducting hearings via electronic means. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, judicial duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources within the judicial system. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
