The bill would amend the Transportation Code to expand the portions of two state highways within Chambers County for which the county is authorized to issue oversize/overweight (OS/OW) permits for loads with a gross vehicle weight of up to 100,000 pounds under the optional permit procedure in Subchapter M of Chapter 623. The bill would add specific segments of S.H. 99 and Farm-to-Market 565 to those already authorized under current law. Chambers County has opted not to use its existing authority to issue OS/OW permits. Since Chambers County has not exercised its authority to issue OS/OW permits, TxDOT has not incurred any additional costs to maintain the roadways in the county. TxDOT reported the provisions of the bill would not have a fiscal impact on the agency. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles reported the provisions of the bill would not have a fiscal impact on the agency. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
