The bill would add sexual abuse and trafficking to the list of offenses that would make a victim eligible for a protective order. The bill would also permit applications for certain protective orders to be filed in any county in which an element of the alleged offense occurred or any court with with jurisdiction over certain other protective orders. The bill would clarify that a court may prohibit an alleged offender from communicating with the applicant, or any member of the applicant's family or household, except through the applicant's attorney or a person appointed by the court.
