                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 21, 2013      TO: Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee On Transportation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB563 by Hegar (Relating to the issuance of specialty license plates to honor recipients of the Defense Superior Service Medal.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to issue specialty license plates for recipients of the Defense Superior Service Medal. The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 504.3015, to require one set of the new specialty license plate to be issued without payment of the vehicle registration fee.  Based on the analysis of DMV, it is assumed implementation of the bill would not result in a significant impact to vehicle registration fee revenue and any additional costs or duties could be absorbed within the agencys existing resources.
