                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2013      TO: Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB826 by Whitmire (Relating to the notification of a potential predator for civil commitment), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the notification of a potential predator for civil commitment. Under the bills provisions, the required timeframe would be modified for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) or the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide written notification to the multidisciplinary team as described by Health and Safety Code, Section 841.021. TDCJ, DSHS, and the Office of Violent Sex Offender Management have determined that the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
