SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1007
WHEREAS, Louis M. McCormick of Sun City celebrated his 70th
birthday on July 9, 2012, and that occasion provided a welcome
opportunity to remind him of the esteem in which he is held by all
who know him; and
WHEREAS, Louis McCormick was born in Olney, Illinois, in
1942 and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from
Southern Illinois University; over the course of a highly
distinguished career, he has enjoyed outstanding professional
success while contributing immeasurably to the well-being of the
State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McCormick began his career in 1967 with Amoco
in Fort Worth, later moving to Houston; there, he became
exploration manager for Total Petroleum in 1976 before
ultimately retiring in 1989 as vice president of exploration;
since that time, Mr. McCormick has been involved in the creation
and management of many successful oil and gas companies;
throughout his extraordinary career, Mr. McCormick was
responsible for the discovery and development of more than 50
million barrels of oil and 200 billion cubic feet of gas; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. McCormick enjoys the
support of his wife, Gail, and his children, Matthew, Michael,
Adam, and Katherine; and
WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
know him, Louis McCormick may reflect with deep satisfaction on a
lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring
him on seven decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby recognize Louis M. McCormick as a treasured
citizen and extend to him sincere best wishes for his 70th
birthday; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Mr. McCormick as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
