SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1065 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Beth Biesel for advocacy efforts and her political engagement; and WHEREAS, Beth is a native of North Carolina who moved to Texas in the early 1980s; she attended Salem College as an economics major and is active in her church; she also homeschooled her children for 10 years; and WHEREAS, She became involved in politics following the 2008 election, and in 2010, she organized and hosted a constitutional education seminar entitled "The Making of America"; and WHEREAS, She became interested in the issue of utility company smart meters and began researching and raising awareness about aspects of their use; and WHEREAS, Despite her apprehensions about public speaking, she has repeatedly given testimony on the issue of smart meters and has proposed legislation regarding their regulation; and WHEREAS, Studious and thorough, she has diligently devoted her time and energy to pursuing this issue, and she is truly deserving of recognition for her commitment and dedication; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Beth Biesel on her steadfast efforts in political organizing and in advancing legislation about smart meters and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
