SENATE RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, That Senate Rule 12.03 be
suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the
conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on
House Bill 3153 (the operation and administration of, and
practice in courts in, the judicial branch of state government
and the composition of certain juvenile boards; imposing a fee)
to consider and take action on the following matter:
Senate Rule 12.03(2) is suspended to permit the committee
to omit text not in disagreement in proposed SECTION 2.02 of the
bill, in amended Section 25.0331, Government Code, to read as
follows:
SECTION 2.02. (a) Effective January 1, 2017, Section
25.0331, Government Code, is amended by adding Subsection (c) to
read as follows:
(c) Cameron County has one statutory probate court, the
Probate Court No. 1 of Cameron County.
(b) Notwithstanding Section 25.0009, Government Code,
the initial vacancy in the office of judge of the Probate Court
No. 1 of Cameron County shall be filled by election. The office
exists for purposes of the primary and general elections in 2016.
A vacancy after the initial vacancy is filled as provided by
Section 25.0009, Government Code.
(c) The Probate Court No. 1 of Cameron County is created
on January 1, 2017.
Explanation: The change is necessary to omit the section
amending Section 25.0331, Government Code.
