SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 299
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the 2012 Team Texas youth baseball team on its
outstanding success at the country's largest youth baseball
tournament, which was held at Dreams Park in Cooperstown, New York,
in August of 2012; and
WHEREAS, Team Texas is made up of players from Houston,
Huffman, Kingwood, Liberty, Lubbock, Plainview, Porter, and
Shepherd; these young athletes, aged 12 and 13 years old,
placed fifth in a field of 104 teams from across the country,
finishing the tournament with a record of 8-1 and a team batting
average of .546; and
WHEREAS, The team represented Texas with honor as they
proudly carried the state's flag in the tournament's opening
ceremony, and they were awarded a ring and inducted into the
American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame; team members Jonas Garcia,
Carson Hauk, Will Johnson, Trey Keel, Coon Lee, Martin Marcian,
Lane McMaster, Tate McMillan, Noah Pendergrass, Konner Raymond,
Reese Rodriguez, and Christian Rusk can all take great pride in
their outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
coaches Mark Johnson and Jarrod McMillan, Team Texas developed
exceptional teamwork and discipline; and
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are proud of the members of Team
Texas for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their
fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Team Texas on its successful tournament
appearance and extend to team members and coaches best wishes for
continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
