SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 392
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
recognizing Mission City Manager Julio C. Cerda for his dedicated
service to his community; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding civic leader brought a high
level of professionalism and expertise to his position; he will
leave the post on February 28, 2013, to start an engineering
firm; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Mr. Cerda helped the City of
Mission expand its water and wastewater treatment facilities; he
also played a key role in the creation of the Anzalduas Highway,
which leads to the Anzalduas International Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cerda joined the City of Mission in 2003 as
the city engineer; in 2005, he was named to his current post, and
he has steadfastly and diligently performed his duties and kept
the city's fund balance stable; and
WHEREAS, This praiseworthy public servant received an
engineering degree from Texas A&M--Kingsville and is a licensed
engineer; prior to working with the City of Mission, Mr. Cerda
worked for the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of
Harlingen; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cerda is also a community leader who sits on
the boards of the Mission Boys and Girls Club and the Mission
Economic Development Corporation; his exemplary work on behalf
of the citizens of Mission is indeed worthy of legislative
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby join the City of Mission in commending Julio
C. Cerda for his dedication and service and extend to him sincere
best wishes in his future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
