SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 443
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize March 13, 2013, as Responsible Pet Owners Alliance
Lobby Day at the Capitol; and
WHEREAS, The Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is known for
its valuable efforts to promote responsible pet ownership in
Texas through education, its Pet Care Hotline, and its training
assistance; and
WHEREAS, The acclaimed Beagle American Kennel Club
Champion K-Run's Park Me In First, known to the world as "Uno,"
who won the Best in Show title at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club
Dog Show and who often functions as a therapy dog and as a
celebrity representative for Angel On a Leash, a charity of the
Westminster Kennel Club, serves as the official mascot of the
Responsible Pet Owners Alliance; and
WHEREAS, Large or small, all kinds of pets run, walk,
crawl, slither, and fly their way into their owners' hearts, and
in doing so, they bring about improved physical and mental
well-being in ways nothing else can; and
WHEREAS, Well-behaved pets are not born that way; they are
the result of care, attention, and training; in return for all
these things, pets give their families a lifetime of devotion and
companionship; and
WHEREAS, It is recognized that dog-related problems are
not always caused by irresponsible owners; both dogs and owners
benefit greatly when dogs understand and reliably demonstrate
acceptable behavior, which can be learned and verified through
such programs as the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen
Certification Program and the Pet Education, Assistance, and
All-Species Rescue Program of the Responsible Pet Owners Alliance
and the American Kennel Club in Texas; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend all the responsible pet owners
of this state and recognize March 13, 2013, as Responsible Pet
Owners Alliance Lobby Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this day.
