SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 507 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Tessa Martinez Pollack, who has been selected for induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her outstanding work in the field of higher education; and WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollack's 42-year career in higher education has been largely spent at multicampus, multicollege, multiculture institutions; formerly the Alamo Community College District's Dean of Occupational, Technical, and Continuing Education, she served as president of Our Lady of the Lake University for the past 10 years and was its first Hispanic president; and WHEREAS, She has served as president of the Higher Education Council of San Antonio and is a board member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities; she was honored as one of HispanicBusiness magazine's 100 Influential Women Leaders in 2005; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollack is highly respected for her dedication to her work and for her outstanding accomplishments as a higher education administrator; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Tessa Martinez Pollack for her exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
