SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 511 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Brigadier General Karen S. Rankin, who has been selected for induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her outstanding military service and her work on behalf of our nation's veterans; and WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and WHEREAS, A pioneering champion of women's rights and roles in the military, General Rankin served in the United States Air Force for 31 years; during a highly laudable career, she served as executive assistant to the secretary of the air force, as well as the commander of two air force training wings; and WHEREAS, Since her retirement in 1998, she has continued to serve the military through her work as a member and chair of the Texas Veterans Commission, and in 2011, she was appointed to the 13-member Texas Military Preparedness Commission, which helps to preserve and expand Texas' military installations and their missions; and WHEREAS, General Rankin is highly respected for her dedication to her work on behalf of veterans, her successful military career, and her current participation in the protection of the vital military installations in our state; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Brigadier General Karen S. Rankin for her exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
