SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 522
In Memory
of
Erica Andrews
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of noted performer Erica Andrews, who died
March 11, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Erica Andrews was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico;
she was a longtime Texas resident who was widely regarded as one
of the nation's best female illusionists, and she was one of the
most decorated contestants on the pageant circuit; and
WHEREAS, Noted for her originality and imagination, she
created many unique characters that reflected her vision of the
powerful image she felt a woman should project; she won numerous
titles over the course of her career as a performer, including
Miss Texas Continental 2001, Miss Continental 2004, Miss
International Queen 2006, and Entertainer of the Year 2006; and
WHEREAS, She was known for her positive attitude, her
warmth, and her sense of humor, and she encouraged other
performers and friends with her belief that once you conquer
fear, you will be able to conquer anything; and
WHEREAS, She served as a mentor to numerous entertainers
and provided guidance and encouragement to many young adults who
had been the target of bullying and harassment; and
WHEREAS, An inspiration to many, Erica Andrews was noted
for her courage, grace, and compassion; she gave unselfishly to
others, and her generous spirit, her abundant creativity, and her
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
forgotten by those who were privileged to share in her life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family and friends of Erica Andrews; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Erica Andrews.
