SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 558 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to congratulate the Reverend Jerome Davis on his installation as pastor of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Houston on March 3, 2013; and WHEREAS, A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, Reverend Davis brings a unique brand of eloquence to his new church home, with the promise of providing compassionate counsel and leadership to the congregation; and WHEREAS, Reverend Davis is deeply devoted to his family, and his wife, Stacy Sylvain-Davis, and their children, Jerome, Trinity, Taylor, and Jourdyn, will lend loving support to the reverend as he embarks on his newest journey; and WHEREAS, This man of faith has spent much of his life heeding the call to serve God; as a young man, he attended True Vine Missionary Baptist Church of Alexandria, and it was there that he delivered his first sermon in 1999; and WHEREAS, Reverend Davis then pastored the New Pilgrim Baptist Church of Woodworth, Louisiana, for eleven and one-half years, until he was invited to become pastor of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, This recently installed pastor will impart hope and be a source of strength and enlightenment to his new congregation, and he will steadfastly minister to their spiritual and temporal needs; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend Jerome Davis on his March 3, 2013, installation as pastor of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Houston and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Reverend Davis as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
