SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 69 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 75th anniversary banquet, which is being held February 9, 2013; and WHEREAS, The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary, nonprofit organization committed to helping its members solve today's complex business issues and raising awareness of the advantages and benefits of the historic community of Bastrop; and WHEREAS, Bastrop was established in 1832 by Stephen F. Austin and is the second-oldest incorporated town in Texas; known as the Most Historic Small Town in Texas, it played host in its early days to such notable Texans as Sam Houston and Davy Crockett, and more than 130 renovated homes and significant sites have been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places; and WHEREAS, The member businesses of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce work together to fulfill its mission of improving the economy of Bastrop, and thereby the quality of life for all its citizens, through economic, community, and leadership development; and WHEREAS, For 75 years, the chamber has played a vital role in the growth of Bastrop, and it is truly deserving of recognition for its many achievements and contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce on its commitment to making Bastrop a better place in which to live, work, and raise a family and extend to its members best wishes for a successful 75th anniversary banquet; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
