SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M University, who has been
named the recipient of the 2012 Outland Trophy; and
WHEREAS, This coveted honor is awarded each year to the
nation's top interior lineman by the Football Writers Association of
America; and
WHEREAS, A junior offensive tackle and three-year starter,
Luke was the mainstay of an Aggie offensive line that had a
profound impact on the team's success in its inaugural season in
the Southeastern Conference; and
WHEREAS, The Aggies finished third in the nation in total
offense, with 552.3 yards per game, and in scoring offense, with
44.8 points per game; the line played a vital role in the
extraordinary success of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback
Johnny Manziel; and
WHEREAS, Luke is a first-team All-American and is respected
and admired by his teammates, his coaches, and his opponents; he is
truly deserving of recognition for his hard work, his dedication,
and his exceptional skill; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Luke Joeckel on his extraordinary
achievements at Texas A&M University and extend congratulations
to him on winning the 2012 Outland Trophy; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
