SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 725 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to pay tribute to Susan Angell-Gonzalez, who is retiring from her position at Texas State University on May 4, 2013; and WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, Susan has been the director and choreographer of the Texas State Strutters, the acclaimed drill team founded in 1960 at Texas State University; and WHEREAS, Under Susan's leadership, the squad has performed its precision dance routines in localities as far-flung as Turkey, Chile, Australia, and the Czech Republic; back home, the dancers have brightened the halftimes at Bobcat Stadium during football season in San Marcos and have made annual guest appearances before San Antonio Spurs audiences; and WHEREAS, A former Strutters captain herself, Susan has guided her team to impressive heights; the group has performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and has advanced to the semi-finals competition on the television show "America's Got Talent"; and WHEREAS, This talented choreographer has been an outstanding role model over the years, and she has maintained the high standards and core values for which the Strutters are renowned; as she prepares for the next chapter of her life, Susan leaves behind a legacy of excellence in precision dance, and she will be dearly missed by her fans and friends alike; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Susan Angell-Gonzalez for her successes as director of the Texas State Strutters and extend to her sincere best wishes in the years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
