                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 74
 In Memory
 of
 Margaret Christine Laws Holcombe
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Cameron in mourning the loss of Margaret Christine
 Laws Holcombe, who died January 3, 2013, at the age of 66; and
 WHEREAS, Chris Holcombe was born May 20, 1946, in Lockhart;
 she graduated from Del Valle High School in Austin in 1963 before
 entering The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a
 degree in home economics; and
 WHEREAS, She was married to Roderick Holcombe, and the
 couple raised two sons, Andrew and William, who were a source of
 much pride and joy and who blessed them with two grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Holcombe enjoyed a productive, 35-year
 career with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as the
 county extension agent for family and consumer sciences in Milam
 County; over the course of her career, she received numerous
 awards for her exceptional service, most notably the Texas 4-H
 Meritorious Service Award; and
 WHEREAS, After her retirement, she continued to serve her
 community by volunteering for a wide variety of charitable and
 civic organizations, including the First United Methodist Women,
 the Republican Women of Milam County, the Cameron Lions Club, and
 the Cameron Arts and Service League; in 2010, she was named
 Volunteer of the Year by the Cameron Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of generosity, compassion, and strength,
 she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, her commitment to
 service, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest
 will not be forgotten; and
 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
 and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
 her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Margaret Christine Holcombe; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Chris Holcombe.
