                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 751
 In Memory
 of
 Kenneth Luckey Harris, Jr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Kenneth Luckey Harris, Jr., who died
 April 17, 2013, at the age of 52; and
 WHEREAS, Kenny Luckey Harris was born November 21, 1960, in
 Killeen; a 1979 graduate of Crawford High School, he married his
 beloved wife, Holly, on October 13, 1984, and the couple was
 blessed with three sons, Jud, Jarrod, and Heath, who were a
 source of much pride and joy; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Harris graduated from the Dallas Fire Academy
 in 1982 and began a fulfilling career of more than 31 years with
 the Dallas Fire Department, where he attained the rank of captain
 and was a member of the Dallas Fire Fighters Association Local
 58; he also owned Harris Home Inspections and Construction with
 his family; and
 WHEREAS, Captain Harris, who lived in West, lost his life
 while responding to a devastating fire and explosion at the West
 fertilizer plant; he was not a member of the fire department in
 West and was off-duty at the time of the fire at the plant, but he
 rushed to the scene to help ensure the safety of the town's
 volunteer firefighters in dealing with a chemical fire; his
 bravery and quick action are a reflection of the spirit that
 guided his life and his career; and
 WHEREAS, Luckey Harris was a fun-loving, adventurous man
 who relished the time he spent aboard his boat with his family and
 who inspired those around him to become better people; he gave
 unselfishly to others, and his courage, his generous spirit, and
 his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
 forgotten; and
 WHEREAS, A devoted son, husband, and father, he leaves
 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Kenneth Luckey Harris, Jr.; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Kenneth Luckey Harris, Jr.
