                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 793
 In Memory
 of
 Adrienne Keen McFarland
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Adrienne Keen McFarland, who died March
 9, 2013, at the age of 61; and
 WHEREAS, Adrienne McFarland was a treasured citizen whose
 many contributions to her family, friends, community, and state
 served as an inspiration to all those who knew her; and
 WHEREAS, Adrienne graduated from Coronado High School in
 El Paso at the age of 16; she was married to her husband, Bill
 McFarland, for nearly 44 years, and the couple raised two
 children, Joel and Joanna, and was blessed with four
 grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Her professional and storied career included
 stints at the Office of the Dean of Students at The University of
 Texas at Austin, the Westlake Picayune, and the Frank Erwin
 Special Events Center; she was best known for the time she spent
 as executive assistant to State Senator Rodney Ellis, in whose
 office she was noted for her ability to convince others of the
 rightness of the causes she advocated; and
 WHEREAS, She took great pleasure in fine food and wine and
 was an avid supporter of progressive issues, particularly
 women's rights; her infectious laugh and engaging sense of humor
 made her the life of the workplace and of every gathering in which
 she participated; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
 gave unselfishly to all those she knew, and her generous spirit,
 her warmth, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest
 will not be forgotten; and
 WHEREAS, She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and
 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
 cherished forever by her family and countless friends; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Adrienne Keen McFarland; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Adrienne McFarland.
