SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 831 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Harold Boyd on the occasion of his 100th birthday; and WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a respected and admired citizen of Dallas; and WHEREAS, Harold Boyd was born May 14, 1913, to Reverend Houston Boyd and Viola Weekly Boyd; the 12th of 14 children, he attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas; and WHEREAS, He followed in the footsteps of his father and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a self-employed paint contractor and paper hanger; he also worked for many years with the Dallas Housing Authority, retiring in 1975; and WHEREAS, He was married to the late Jessie L. Sanders for 59 years; their children have been a source of much pride and joy, and he has been blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices his faith in his daily life, he is a longtime member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, In celebration of his birthday, friends and family are gathering at the Orion Ballroom on May 11, 2013, to congratulate him and share in this milestone in his life; a beloved and respected member of his community, he is known for his courage, his compassion for others, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Harold Boyd on his 100th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
