SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 986
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Barbara-Jane Paris, who has been selected to serve as
president of the National Association of Secondary School
Principals; and
WHEREAS, Barbara-Jane Paris is principal of Canyon Vista
Middle School in the Round Rock Independent School District;
throughout her tenure as principal, she has demonstrated
exceptional leadership and the ability to engage with students
and faculty alike; and
WHEREAS, For many years, she has also played an active role as
a member of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and
the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and she has
held several high offices with the organization and provided
guidance on a wide variety of subjects; and
WHEREAS, She is an acknowledged expert on school safety,
cyber bullying, and media relations and has led numerous
conferences and professional workshops on these important
issues; and
WHEREAS, She was invited to serve on the White House Office
of National Drug Control Policy--Youth Recovery Panel and the
White House Committee on Bullying; she has been invited to serve
as a keynote speaker on the topics of cyber bullying and school
safety; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she is
respected and admired by her colleagues, and she is truly
deserving of recognition for her exceptional achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend Barbara-Jane Paris on her
commitment to the educational profession and extend congratulations
to her on her selection as president of the National Association of
Secondary School Principals; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
