SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 991 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the congregation of the Chosen Vessel Cathedral of Fort Worth in honoring Bishop Richard E. Young and First Lady Arlene Young on the occasion of their 75th birthdays; and WHEREAS, The year 2013 also presents the opportunity to celebrate the 54th wedding anniversary of this devoted couple, as well as 34 years of their service in the ministry; the theme for this special occasion is "The Legacy of Two and Their Life, Love, and Ministry"; and WHEREAS, Bishop and First Lady Young came to the Chosen Vessel Cathedral in 1985; since then, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the life of the community; and WHEREAS, Under Bishop Young's leadership, the church has opened its doors to refugees from Burma who were forbidden to worship openly in their own country; he has also worked with the Clergy and Police Alliance and has held numerous offices with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, Bishop and First Lady Young have had a profound impact on the life of their church and its congregation, and it is truly fitting that they be recognized for their dedication and their many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Bishop Richard E. Young and First Lady Arlene Young on their commitment to the Chosen Vessel Cathedral and extend to them best wishes as they celebrate their 75th birthdays and their shared life and ministry; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
