 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Bear Creek Smokehouse in Marshall has been named the
 2013 Family-Owned Business of the Year by the Dallas/Fort Worth
 District of the U.S. Small Business Administration; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 1943 by Hick and Nellie Shoults, this
 popular establishment has grown from a small backyard smokehouse to
 a large-scale facility that prepares a variety of meats for sale at
 the company's salesroom in Marshall and through its catalog and
 website; products include hickory-smoked brisket, turkey, chicken,
 mango ginger habanero ham, peppered pork tenderloin, sausage,
 bacon, soup mixes, desserts, and the company's own brand of
 barbecue sauce; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Bear Creek Smokehouse thrives under the
 direction of president Robbie Shoults, the grandson of the original
 founders, and several other generations of the family continue to
 participate in the business; and
 WHEREAS, Texas is fortunate to be home to many independent
 businesses that have benefited from the stewardship of one family
 through the years, and Bear Creek Smokehouse proudly upholds that
 vital tradition while contributing to the economic well-being of
 the community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bear Creek
 Smokehouse on being named the 2013 Family-Owned Business of the
 Year by the Dallas/Fort Worth District of the U.S. Small Business
 Administration and extend to the Shoults family sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Bear Creek Smokehouse as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
