H.R. No. 141 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Austin Holloway graduated as the salutatorian of the senior class of Borger High School on May 31, 2013; and WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Mr. Holloway demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours he has devoted to his studies are myriad; and WHEREAS, The son of Cappy and Terry Holloway, Mr. Holloway has distinguished himself as a member of the Borger High School Band, with which he performed on the xylophone and baritone, and as a keyboard player in the school jazz band; he is likewise acclaimed for his skill on the piano, his instrument of choice, and has held a six-year membership in the Music Notes Studio; his talent as a pianist has taken him to a number of events, including a recent statewide competition held in Austin and a senior recital at Frank Phillips College; and WHEREAS, A high achiever in scholastic pursuits as well, Mr. Holloway is a member of the National Honor Society and has received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; each year, he has ranked among the top 10 students in his class, and he has competed in UIL Math and Calculator, managing first-place showings at the district level in both events; he was awarded a presidential scholarship to Austin College in Sherman and plans to seek a degree in math with a minor in music; and WHEREAS, Throughout his academic career, Austin Holloway has earned the respect and admiration of his teachers and classmates alike, and his exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Austin Holloway, salutatorian of the Borger High School Class of 2013, and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success as he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Holloway as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
