 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Amy Weinheimer graduated as valedictorian of her
 senior class at Groom High School on May 31, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
 Ms. Weinheimer demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide
 range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she
 devoted to her studies are myriad; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer, who served as president of her
 school's National Honor Society, received several scholarships
 from West Texas A&M University, including the Betty Teel Bivins
 Leadership Scholarship, as well as others from the Houston
 Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Better Business Bureau, the Groom
 Athlete Booster Club, and Christian Mothers; and
 WHEREAS, Active in University Interscholastic League
 competitions, this notable Texan qualified for regional in
 journalism for both headline and editorial writing and was named
 All Star Crew Best Sound Tech in One Act Play; vice president of the
 student council and an editor for the journalism/yearbook staff,
 she was named Student of the Month and a member of the Academic
 All-District team and was elected homecoming queen her senior year;
 she captained the cheerleading squad, played basketball, ran
 cross-country and qualified for area and regional meets as a member
 of the track team; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer worships at Immaculate Heart of Mary
 Catholic Church, where she participates in the youth ministry, and
 she has worked for her father and the school district; she heads to
 West Texas A&M University in the fall to major in agriculture; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Nick and Renee
 Weinheimer, Amy Weinheimer earned the respect and admiration of her
 teachers and classmates at Groom High School, and her exceptional
 scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have
 opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young
 Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Amy
 Weinheimer on being named valedictorian of the Groom High School
 Class of 2013 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Weinheimer as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
