H.R. No. 165
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Poppi Davis graduated as salutatorian of the 2013
senior class of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, and she truly
merits special recognition for her impressive achievements; and
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms.
Davis demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
her studies are myriad; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being
recognized as one of the two highest achieving students in her
class, Ms. Davis gained the opportunity to address her fellow
seniors at commencement and to reflect on their shared history as
well as their hopes and ambitions for the future; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Mike and Kristi
Briseno and Dirk and Keri Davis, Poppi Davis has earned the respect
and admiration of her teachers and classmates at Tascosa High
School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and
commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Poppi Davis on
being named salutatorian of the 2013 senior class of Tascosa High
School and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
