R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Kiaria Sewell is graduating as salutatorian of the
senior class of Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School in Mesquite in 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
highest academic standards; the student who garners this coveted
distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide
range of subjects, from math and science to language arts and social
studies, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study and
preparation are myriad; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parent Rachel Sewell,
Ms. Sewell plans to continue her education at The University of
Texas at Austin, studying business management and communication on
a $40,000 scholarship; her ultimate goals include becoming a
literary agent; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Kiaria Sewell has
earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
Poteet High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard
work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
opportunities for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Kiaria
Sewell, salutatorian of the Poteet High School Class of 2013, and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she
begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Sewell as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
