SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 68 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Gleniece A. Robinson, who has been named the recipient of the sixth annual Lifetime Achievement Award by the Texas Library Association; and WHEREAS, Gleniece Robinson has been library director of the Fort Worth Library System since 1999; this prestigious award honors her career of more than 40 years and pays tribute to her exemplary leadership and her contributions to librarianship; and WHEREAS, She holds a master's and a doctoral degree in library and information science from the University of Michigan and is active in numerous local, state, and national professional organizations; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her distinguished career, she has also held positions at the Library of Congress, the University of Michigan Library, and the Dallas Public Library, where she worked for 23 years; she is the first African American to lead the Texas Library Association and the first to serve as director of the Fort Worth Library System; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she is respected and admired by her peers, and she is truly deserving of recognition for her many contributions to her community and her profession; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Gleniece A. Robinson on her many achievements and extend congratulations to her on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Library Association; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
