 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
 memories of Franklin Joseph Homer, Sr., of Paris, Texas, who passed
 away on August 16, 2012, at the age of 77; and
 WHEREAS, Frank Homer was born on May 1, 1935, in McAlester,
 Oklahoma, to Nimrod and Sabina Victoria Stizza Homer; after
 graduating from McAlester High School, he went on to attend
 Oklahoma State University; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Homer was joined in marriage with Molly Jo
 Bernsasky in 1958, and they shared a loving relationship that
 spanned more than 54 years; he was a caring father to his four
 children, Karen, Mark, Frank, and Monica, and he later had the
 pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 11 grandchildren and a
 great-granddaughter; and
 WHEREAS, A pioneering businessman, Mr. Homer opened the first
 Sonic Drive-In franchise in the State of Texas, which began
 operations in Paris in 1964; he later expanded his holdings to
 include a total of 14 Sonic locations in the Lone Star State as well
 as others in Oklahoma and Florida; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Homer was deeply engaged in the civic life of
 Paris, serving as the director of the Lamar County Chamber of
 Commerce and the Boys Club of Paris and as a member of the advisory
 board of St. Joseph's Hospital; he also played a prominent role in
 the congregation at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and the
 concern and support he showed for his fellow residents made a
 positive difference in many lives; and
 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the friendship
 and love of Frank Homer will always remember him with great
 admiration and affection, and the contributions he made to his
 adopted hometown will continue to be appreciated for many years to
 come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas,
 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Franklin
 Joseph Homer, Sr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of
 his family: to his wife, Molly Homer; to his children, Karen Bailey
 and her husband, Chris, former state representative Mark Homer,
 Frank Homer, Jr., and his wife, Claudia, and Monica Clement and her
 husband, Eddie; to his grandchildren, Jason Bailey and his wife,
 Holly, Cade Bailey, Hanna Homer, Harrison Homer, Hayden Homer,
 Danny Martinez, Emma Homer, Franklin "Paco" Homer III, Avery
 Clement, Mollie Clement, and Adam Clement; to his
 great-granddaughter, Londyn Bailey; to his sister-in-law, Sara
 Homer; to his nephew, John B. Homer; to his niece, Susie Hass; to
 his cousin, Elizabeth Riddle; and to his other relatives and
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
 Franklin Joseph Homer, Sr.
