No. 101 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, No words can soften the pain of a life cut short, but the family and friends of Casey Lee Whitley Damen may find comfort in their memories of this beloved woman, who passed away on July 9, 2013, at the age of 34; and WHEREAS, The former Casey Whitley was born in Weslaco on August 12, 1978, to David and Bonnie Whitley and grew up with the company of her sister, Courtney; she earned her bachelor's degree in business from Southwestern University, where she was active in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and she went on to establish a notable career as a forensic analyst with the Travis County District Attorney's Office; and WHEREAS, She and her husband, Jason Damen, enjoyed a rewarding marriage, and she also treasured the time she spent with the other members of her family; a spirited individual who lived life to the fullest, she delighted in pursuing her passion for fishing, golfing, and traveling; through the years, she visited the Florida Keys, Colorado, British Columbia, Belize, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and all corners of Texas; and WHEREAS, Though deeply saddened by her passing, those who were fortunate enough to share in the affection and friendship of Casey Damen will continue to reflect on the courage, wit, and positive outlook with which she lived her life, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Casey Lee Whitley Damen and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Jason Damen; to her parents, David and Bonnie Whitley; to her sister, Courtney Mitchell, and her husband, Shane; to her brother-in-law, John Damen, and his wife, Lauren; to her parents-in-law, Mike and Marion Damen; to her nieces, Whitley Mitchell, Charley Mitchell, and Katherine Etta Damen; to her grandmother, Peggy Whitley; to her aunts and uncles, Marlee and Gary Schwarz, Beth and Marty Masso, and Darla Burton; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Casey Lee Whitley Damen.
